Veggie Galaxy review and Boston Swap Meet~

yesterday i attended the community swap meet at the Boston Public Garden. it was a perfect autumn day - not too hot or too cold; quite suitable for wearing lolita! i was really unsure of what my outfit would be, but i decided to wear Loyal Rosette out for the first time.

the day started early, getting ready around 7:00, with Kristen on her way for 8ish. we had decided on grabbing breakfast at popular vegan spot Veggie Galaxy before the meet started at 11.

Veggie Galaxy is most definitely one of my favorite spots to eat, in or out of lolita. the food is just phenomenal, every time i visit - i have never had a bad experience with the food here. you can tell the staff really cares about creating incredible and unique meals! there are also great gluten-free options available as well. it is set up like an old 50's diner, right in the heart of Central Square. it's a short walk off the Red Line.

good lord this was delicious
while Kristen and i were waiting to be seated, a staff member greeted us, excitedly asking if we were lolitas! we were pretty surprised because normally guys a) aren't so nice and b) aren't familiar with the fashion. he also works at a comic shop and had seen lolitas at the conventions he's worked at, but had never seen lolitas "in the wild", haha.

we throughly enjoyed our meal~ Kristen had stuffed french toast and i had the special - pumpkin waffles! they were so so good. not overpoweringly pumpkin but just the right flavor, and the waffles were very fluffy and rich. i also grabbed a slice of their Tazo cheesecake of the week for later! i would absolutely recommend this restaurant to any lolita - the atmosphere was great and nobody bothered us.

Kristen and i arrived at the meet a little late, just before noon. we found another lolita named Erica on our way, and got lost for a little bit on the Common. coincidentally, the Freedom Rally was taking place and was just setting up. we finally found everyone and started to look at what everyone had brought for trade.

i really enjoyed myself at this meet - it was really nice getting to know some of the newer members to the community as well as spending time with my other friends. everyone looked super cute! here are the coordinate shots i was able to get:

and here's my coordinate! thanks to Kristen for taking the photos (:

the swap meet began to wind down, and everyone started to part ways. i really had wanted to go into Chinatown after the meet for some snacks and to find a lucky cat trinket i had promised a coworker. Scarlet, Kristen, Carrie and i grabbed boba tea and pastries at 101 Bakery

Carrie had to leave to go home, which left the three of us venturing around. in our travels, i ran into two coworkers of mine who recognized me before i saw them! haha. we also spoke with a really nice lady in Chinatown, who gave us food recommendations and invited us to a movie screening near the gates later on that night. unfortunately it would be too late for us to attend, but it was really sweet she invited us anyway! she was really excited to see a group of lolitas.

i had a lovely time and it was a very eventful day!
i'm looking forward to the next time we have a meetup together :D
