trips & adventures: Faneuil Hall and In the Name of the Moon

hi everyone!

i am very lucky that i can wear lolita to work - i don't do it often, but it is very helpful that it falls into dress code. i keep it simple and toned down, but even still, my coworkers and customers are generally very positive and think the fashion is very cute! for that i am very lucky as well. it is especially helpful that it is so well received for a day like this past Saturday, where i attended a meetup after i finished work.

the Boston lolitas paid a visit to the New England Aquarium, but unfortunately i wasn't able to be there for this portion of the meet. however, i did have time to grab a bite to eat with them before heading to Hub Comics' Sailor Moon art gallery event, In the Name of the Moon.

for dinner, we ate at Wagamama in Faneuil Hall. the waitstaff was kind and accommodating of our large group (about 20 of us in all). i ordered the Cape Cod Potato Chip-encrusted mango salmon (!!) along with one of their special summer juices. my order was quite good, and besides a snafu with some dumplings i believe our table enjoyed our meal. i would easily go there again at another meet, especially considering Wagamama has no trouble splitting the check a variety of ways.

after my table finished dinner, some of the lolitas from the first table went to Stone Flower, a popular shopping spot. i went over as well so i could take a few photos and say good night to the lolitas who weren't attending the Sailor Moon event afterwards. here are some outfit snaps and candid shots that i took with my new camera:

soon after leaving Stone Flower, myself, my boyfriend Ben, and my friend Scarlet were on our way to Somerville. i had only heard about the Sailor Moon event a few days prior, so i'm really happy i didn't miss out on it! even though we caught the end of the event, there was still a lot going on. i was also able to see my friend Dan who i haven't seen in forever! the event looked like it had an awesome turnout - good to see there's a lot of moonie love in Boston <3 In the Name of the Moon will be running through September. if you are local to the area or just happen to be visiting, i highly suggest checking the gallery out, as well as Hub Comics!

i had never been to this comic shop in particular before that night. i really enjoyed how the layout of the store was incredibly well organized and easy to find just what you're looking for. i'm just starting to really get into comic books - having been a manga fan for most of my life, it's a bit overwhelming just to jump right into something new! Hub employs very welcoming and friendly staff that provide great recommendations and customer service. two staff members assisted me in my selections for the night (also pictured are cute pens from Stone Flower):

last but not least, here is what i wore for the day! i drew from Sailor Moon as my coordinate theme. i did my best to make it tasteful and not super costume-y - it was my first time using fandom in lolita!
