trips & adventures: International Lolita Day Winter 2014

hi everyone!
i hope you all had a lovely ILD~

for this winter's meet, Carly, Kristen, and myself organized a meet that joined the Boston, Western Massachusetts, and Rhode Island communities. we chose the Langham Hotel in Boston as the location due to its beautiful venue, accommodating staff and its popularity in the past with the Chocolate Bar meets.

i'm so happy we went with the Langham! the manager, Ava, was kind and quick to respond to my inquires. we had a large party of 35, and many of us have specific allergies or diets that needed to be adhered to. Ava was super helpful in coordinating with us to respect this. the concierge, Damian, was also incredibly helpful and friendly!

we arrived a little before 4PM to set up the tables. Carly had made a lovely necklace for a door prize, Kristen had donated a headdress from her shop, Atelier Sucré, and the three of us chipped in for a $25 BTSSB NYC gift card to give away as well! Carly and her mother had also created adorable ornaments as party favors. the three of us started to lay out the favors and figure out the seating placement.

at 4:30PM, guests began to be seated at the tables. we took up a good 1/3 of the Reserve!

after everyone was seated, we made a few announcements, then sat down to enjoy the tea service.
i can't eat meat or dairy, so i basically follow a vegan diet. i was given 2 plates of food. at this point i was starving so i wasn't exactly graceful while i ate OTL
the savory plate included a balsamic tomato skewer, a mushroom skewer, a tea sandwich with hummus, and a crostini with tomato and chive. the sweets plate consisted of a chocolate chip mini muffin, a chocolate dipped strawberry, a flower shaped jelly, and a mini chocolate truffle. the final dessert was mango, lemon, and raspberry sorbet. it was delicious! my favorite was the jelly (:
after everyone was nearly done or finished with their meal, we started to give away the door prizes. Jaydah won Carly's necklace, Kitty won Kristen's headdress, and Ashley won the gift card! it was a very exciting moment~

shortly after this, some guests were getting ready to leave.
we took a few group photos, including a lot of silly shots!!

perhaps it was the elegant backdrop of the event, but the other patrons at the Reserve were in most cases very respectful and genuinely interested in our event. i didn't catch anyone being rude or taking photos without permission, which was really comforting!
this was my coordinate, i decided to wear Day Dream Carnival and pair it with white and pink!

what did you do for International Lolita Day?

until next time!
