trips & adventures: photoshoot with Xin Lolita Photography and NYC!

hi everyone!
i am on vacation this week from work (: originally, i was taking time off in preparation for Angelic Pretty SF's Anniversary Party, but unfortunately i wouldn't be able to go for the planned dates this year.

so instead, i have spent my week getting settled into my new apartment (it's so cute!) and i had one trip planned with my friend Michelle. that trip was this past Wednesday, in New York City!

we started our day meeting Xin of Xin Lolita Photography at Alice's Tea Cup - Chapter I. i had never been to an Alice's, but have always wanted to. one of Michelle's favorite novels is Alice in Wonderland, so i thought it would be the perfect location for a light snack!

i ordered Alice's Tea over ice and the vegan scone of the day - the tea was just perfect and the scone flaky and delicious! you would never tell it was vegan. service was attentive but not overbearing, which i really appreciated.

after Alice's, the three of us walked to Central Park and started the photoshoot. Michelle was a good sport and helped out Xin with lighting when he needed it (she was also my cape handler). Xin is such an incredibly talented photographer. during our photoshoot i felt like i learned so much from him about modelling and photography!

after our photoshoot, we parted ways with Xin and went to the Met to see the Death Becomes Her exhibit. i was worried i wouldn't be able to see this collection in time, so i'm glad we had a chance to visit. we also looked at Modern European Art for Michelle! she had never been to the Met before. we'll have to go back soon and really spend some time there (:

for dinner, we went to one of my favorite Whole Foods locations - the Bowery store in SoHo. it's a short jaunt from Tokyo Rebel/Baby the Stars Shine Bright, which was our next venture. Michelle and i both work at the same Whole Foods store in Massachusetts, so we both nerded out and enjoyed the differences Bowery had to our store. one of those differences is a Burger Bar, no i am not joking.

i just really love spicy mayo
i was so excited to show Michelle the BABY/TR shop! we walked in and TARA was working. she was (as always!) very pleasant to chat with - we ended up talking about kodona for a little while after i complimented her vest. i'm thinking about branching out into this style, so it was a really wonderful opportunity to speak to someone whose style i admire so much!

my loot!
i bought navy hairclips and the newest KERA. i did lament later that i should have bought one of the AATP berets, but i figured i could always purchase them later. we still had a little while to kill before going to our bus pickup location - so we happened upon a zine/cafe/bookshop called Bluestockings. it had a very interesting vibe, and i wish we could have stayed longer! i did purchase a "Abolish All Restaurants" pamphlet (which has proved to be an interesting read) and a short book on the creative process.

until next time!
